Ace shuttler PV sindhu on Sunday became the first Indian to win the gold medal in World Badminton Championships after she defeated Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in straight games 21-7, 21-7. After winning the match, Sindhu said, " Sindhu said, "Last time I lost the finals, before that I also lost finals...and it is very very important to win now. I thank the crowd for supporting me day in and day out." She dedicated the medal to her mother. "I dedicate this medal to my mother it is her birthday. A big thanks to my coach Gopichand and Kim Ji Hyun (Korean coach and my support staff), "she added.
